Welcome to 9m News

Welcome to 9m news where we will keep you in the loop with our activities and developments

Marc goes head to head with the Ring -- to test a new concept in GT3 braking -- gulp!

Having developed phase 1 of 9M's alternative to PCCB brakes, namely 378mm LeMans Specification Floating brakes for the front of a GT3 Marc has now done the same for the rear. That's right, 378mm front AND rear!!

So - how do you test it -- well you go to the Ring of course and test your new stoppers against those of other GT3's including those with PCCB

More on how Marc got on to follow!

9m Appointed Main Agent for CarGraphic

CarGraphic are very well known for their exhaust systems, wheels, aerodynamic body parts and general Porsche tuning equipment, which 9M have been using to our customer's benefit for some time. We have now been appointed Main Agent for the entire CarGraphic Product Range.

9m 93 Speedster S hits the road!

Despite a 964 Speedster being an object of much desire and the sexier lines of the 993 offering an even more glorious incarnation of the Speedster lineage Porsche didn’t create one. So we have done so for our customer Graham M.

This build has attracted enormous attention -- almost 50,000 hits on Rennlist and as you study the pictures you can see why.

After months of work of disassembly, shaping and crafting, tuning and painting by Marc and his team this beautiful 9m93 Speedster is ready to leave us. To create the Speedster has required considerable planning, custom design of body panels and meticulous execution. Not only does Graham's car look fantastic it also has immense torsional rigidity thanks to novel proprietary 9m stiffeners. We are proud to have created it - join us on May 1 between 10am and 2pm to send it on its way!

Brawny Boxster has knock-out punch

9m customer TG has very specfic ideas about how fast a Porsche Boxster should be -- very very fast! To that end he has commissioned 9m to create an uber Boxster starting from a 987S. With a little supercharging, GT3 brakes and KW Variant 3 suspension plus tasteful upgrades in appearance the result is splendid indeed!

Tony and his formidable Boxster are to be featured in the April issue of Pure GT

9m Racing to power Singer Recreation

You may remember that recently 9m's Colin Belton had to hot foot it to California to help the folks at Singer finish a show car in time, if not click here for that article

Fortunately the car was a hit and subsequently Singer asked that 9m racing supply the engines for these $300,000 Porsche cars and we are pleased to announce that with Singer increasing order book filling fast the process is now in motion!

Note that the engine pictured is a 9m Racing engine representative of engines built for Singer. Also of note is the car in the background -- a works race car; a 996 from the front and a 993 from the rear and air-cooled -- a whole new story in itself!

Massive Steel Brake PCCB Replacement Conversion in Testing

These shots show our latest 9m braking innovation for GT3 owners. We decided we needed a replacement for the expensive and short lived Porsche Carbon Composite Brake rotors for owners who drive their cars to circuits such as the NordSchleife and therefore cover 'GT' miles.

Steel brakes were an obvious answer so we selected an endurance racing component of sufficient size and with the correct characteristics for powerful braking and married it to a custom made 9m designed custom bell to carry it.

The pictures show the rotor and a prototype in place on Marc's GT3 whilst testing. We make no apology for the dirty car, it is winter. Note the Ray's alloy and Toyo tyre -- we use what we sell!

Rays

At 9m we try to innovate and we've been using Ray's Wheels for some time because they offer an unbeatable combination of quality, lightness and strength. Porsche must have been watching us because the new 997GT3RSR pictured uses them too!

For extremely competitive prices and fitment information from leaders in the uses of Rays Wheels call Peter at 9m or go to 'Parts'

We have fitted Ray's to cars in Scandinavia, Germany and the US and can ship as required.

P.S. If you like the look of the big brakes check out our 378mm Steel conversion above!

9m Technic and the Italian Job

I guess that you sometimes lose your sense of reality when you work in the specialist Porsche sector on some of the most desirable and rare Porsche models, however once in a blue moon a coincidence comes along that makes you take a reality check.

9m is well known for working on the odd RS or two, however here was a photo opportunity that even made us sit up and take note: how about a perfect set of red, white & blue RHD 964RS's in Touring, Lightweight and Clubsport varieties?

The Clubsport may be a 9m64RS but it still makes a pretty impressive line up.

Innocent little 964 Speedster is corrupted by Carbon Brakes

This bad in black 964 Speedster is the pride and joy of its long time owner. He fancied adding a little extra and with a car as pretty as this one that's not so easy. How about a boss set of carbon brakes and KWs to match!

Wheels were also on the agenda, check out the carbon offering on the floor in the second picture; Rays Volk Alloys in gunmetal are also on the menu.

Which to choose? Decisions decisions!

Recent sad loss of much loved and respected colleague Miles Carter

It is with extreme sadness that we must report the untimely death of Miles Carter, aged only 40. Miles was with ninemeister for many years; a talented individual whose dedication and skill commanded the respect of his colleagues. As was only fitting 9m closed to pay its respects to Miles: Apologies to anyone who might have tried to contact us in vein at the time.

It is fair to say that we have been somewhat subdued of late despite the marvellous range of activities ongoing at present.

If anything can be learned from this tragedy it is that life can be very short indeed.

New Web Site

We have had something of a hitch with our website recently and as is the case when something is intermittently defective we decided to rip it up and start afresh. If you’ve encountered our holding page recently this is why.

However, in a best foot forward manner we are pleased to introduce the new 9m site. We’ve attempted to add more articles and news and less filler – so that you can keep up with our activites on the road, on track and in the workshop.

Recently we’ve been somewhat quiet (depressed? see article above) but watch this space as we move onward and upwards.

GT3 Action -- Marc at the 'Ring

Actually we have to admit that on this occasion the event was a damp squib. The heavens opened and stayed that way and frankly a submarine would have been more appropriate than a GT3. Which is a shame because Marc had gone to great lengths to prepare the car to improve on his already impressive bridge to gantry time (not a full lap) of 7:50.

The car was and is running improved brakes, new superlight Rays Volk Wheels and tuned KW Variant3 suspension and 9m tweaked roll-bars. Soon it will have our new 378mm Steel Rotor upgrade -- where better to put it to the test than the 'Ring!

9m Racing to power new Singer Recreation

A recent enquiry for 9m racing engine parts led to 9m's Colin Belton spending several frantic days in California. Arriving at 5PM on Monday evening Colin spent most of the next 72 hours building an engine for installing and tuning it and then helping build the Singer Recreation which recently debuted in the Californian Pebble Beach AutoShow and at Laguna Seca Raceway

Initially 9m racing were supplying parts only but a desperate call from California had Colin on a plane and ready to help create the Singer. The car was due to leave the workshop on the Wednesday evening. Colin arrived on Monday evening and experience told him the deadline was a bust. Working at maximum pace Colin and the Singer team managed to have the car ready for 6:30AM, the day of the show!!

Fortunately the car was a hit and subsequently Singer have asked that 9m racing supply the engines for these $300,000 Porsche cars and look after Singer Europe in the future.

9m redesign of troublesome centre shaft bearing; Porsche Boxster and 911 996

Porsches are marvellous cars without a doubt and are subject to thousands of hours of testing prior to going into production. Inevitably however even Porsche can get it wrong and it appears they certainly have done with the centre shaft and bearing used on Porsche Boxster and 996 models given the number we have seen fail. Help is at hand however; 9m Racing who more normally develop and manufacture sports components are producing a much improved shaft / bearing assembly which will cure this troublesome issue.

9m 993RSR eat Gallardos and just about everything else at Brands

Really to see it is to believe it. Follows this link to catch the 993RSR in action on YouTube. |Video

This car is fast!! It is a bespoke creation fashioned by Marc and the team in 9m panelcraft and powered by 9m racing. For good measure 9m technic have equipped the car with a custom KW set up and massive 9m custom brakes to provide a beautifully balanced package.

At present it has around 430 normally aspirated hp. Guess what -- it is going to get more – moving up to 460 hp NA, with 9m’s latest camshaft and valve train products.

What’s perhaps even more special is this car is unique in specification yet still a usable, reliable road and track weapon.

Porsche Club GB Meeting at 9m

9m recently hosted a gathering of approximately 80 Porsche Owners at our premises in Warrington. Both Porsche Club Members and others were in attendance on what proved to be a relatively warm autumnal evening.

On display were a number of fabulous Porsches including a 1971 911T restored to concours by Marc and his team at 9m panelcraft and a 904 recreation owned by Phil Moore. This recreation replaces a long ago owned genuine 904 which was sold relatively cheaply because reputedly it wasn’t too handy when going fishing! Ah the benefit of hindsight is a marvellous thing.

Visitors toured 9m seeing the 911 Martini Turbo enjoying full restoration prior to being placed in a motor museum, a 993 complete with new Rays Forged Wheels, KW Suspension and geometry set up ready to ship to Sweden and several GT3s in various states of being tuned. Sarah and Haley arranged catering for the event and a good evening was had by all.

9m goes 'Down Under'

9m has extended its sphere of influence by selling 9m race engine kits to builders in Australia. This marks the start of 9m’s official move into the Asian marketplace in something of a reversal of Japanese tuning products coming to Europe. 9m has already shipped engine kits to China and Hong.

9m Racing's Colin Belton sets an unofficial Hill Record at Longleat

Proving the point – that racing improves the marque Colin Belton has been campaigning his 9m 993 RS CS 4.0 litre in the Porsche Sprint Championship with much success. On this particular run he set an unofficial new Hill Record. |Video

9m in Hong Kong

9m racing ship engines parts all over the world for tuners to build into engines for their customers. The process usually works extremely well; however recently a complex kit shipped to Hong Kong caused much consternation for the tuner when they could not set the engine up properly. 9m racing’s Colin thought a trip to the ex colony was on but as a last ditch effort prior to buying an airline ticket decided to try and talk the tuner in!

Amazingly it worked and a 9m racing engine was tuned remotely to produce a healthy (and as expected) 455 hp!!
